The Planning Board is working on beginning to update the Orange Master Plan. They have formed a subcommittee, which is meeting biweekly to plan the Master Plan update. In addition, they have applied for a Community Planning Grant from the state which will allow them to hire a consultant to assist in community engagement and writing the plan. The importance of having an up-to-date Master Plan cannot be overstated. Many grants and funding sources require municipalities to have an updated Master Plan in order to qualify for funding, and a well-written plan that takes into account the needs and goals of the community can guide the decision-making process at all levels of government.
If you're interested in learning more or joining the subcommittee, email the Community Development Department or call 978-544-1105 extension 6.
