Tax Bills
We bill four times a year. The normal due dates are as follows:
Should the 1st fall on a weekend, then the bill will be due that Monday. To avoid penalties, payments are due in the Collector's office on or before the above dates.
Excise taxes are based on information provided to the town from the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Questions about the vehicle's valuation should be directed to the MA RMV.
Payments
See the billing schedule for the dates when bills are due. Taxes are due 30 days after the bill is mailed. A demand follows if not paid and adds an additional $10 to the original bill plus 12% interest. Demands allow you an additional 14 days. If the bill after the demand date remains unpaid, it is forwarded for collection to Jeffery and Jeffery, our Deputy Collectors, at which time, their fees are also added to the bill. Jeffery and Jeffery's number 413-967-9941.
Delinquent Motor Vehicle Excise Tax
For delinquent excise information contact Jeffery and Jeffery at 413-967-9941. All excise bills past their demand date are forwarded to Jeffery and Jeffery.
Abatements
The town does not know when you trade in your vehicle for another vehicle, when your car is repossessed, or when you turn in your plates. If you think you are entitled to an abatement on your vehicle, please call the Assessor's Office at 978-544-1100 X108.
