Energy Committee

Overview

The Orange Energy Committee was founded in 2008. This dedicated group of volunteers, several of whom have been active with the Committee since the beginning, has accomplished a great deal to benefit the Town, including extensive community engagement and education; achieving a designation for Orange as a Green Community, which has lead to $192,979 of grant money being used to improve the energy efficiency of town buildings, vehicles, and streetlights; and securing and managing the net metering contract with the community solar field in Warren, which saved the town over $143,000 in electricity costs in 2022 alone.

Mission

The Energy Committee for the Town of Orange is organized to encourage conservation, recycling, efficient energy practices, and the use of renewable energy where possible in public buildings, homes and businesses of Orange.
